Outer Wilds 精修繁體

Outer Wilds 台灣繁中模組

為遊戲新增獨立的「正體中文」語言選項,提供台灣用語習慣的完整繁體中文翻譯。

模組概要

  • 在語言選單新增獨立的「正體中文」選項,不佔用或覆蓋原有語言
  • 完整翻譯:對話、星際日誌、UI、Echoes of the Eye DLC
  • 全文自英文原文直接翻譯,術語和譯文皆經過人工逐句精修
  • 所有術語、人名、地名依原文重新考量,不沿用官方簡中

前置需求

本模組基於 Interplanetary Polyglot(xen.LocalizationUtility) 框架。 透過 Mod Manager 安裝時會自動帶入前置模組,無需手動處理。

安裝方式

方法一(推薦):透過 Outer Wilds Mod Manager 直接安裝。

方法二(手動)

  1. 安裝前置模組 Interplanetary Polyglot
  2. Releases 下載 zip,解壓縮後將資料夾放入 OuterWildsModManager\OWML\Mods\

The Vessel飞船方舟簡中以「飞船」統一對應 the Vessel、spacecraft、spaceship、shuttle 等不同載具,難以區分。本模組各有專屬一對一譯名。
Ash Twin灰烬双星灰子星簡中以「双星」統一對應 twin 與 twins,無法區分「雙星之一」與「雙星整體」。本模組以「子星」指個體星球,「雙星」保留給整體(沙漏雙星),還原原文層次
Ember Twin

Outer Wilds Traditional Chinese (Taiwan) Mod

Adds a standalone 正體中文 (Traditional Chinese) language option to the game, with a complete translation localized for Taiwan.

Features

  • Adds Traditional Chinese as a new language option — does not replace or occupy any existing language
  • Full coverage: dialogue, ship log, UI, and the Echoes of the Eye DLC
  • Translated directly from the English original with hand-crafted, sentence-by-sentence refinement — not a machine-translation polish pass
  • All terminology, character names, and place names reconsidered from the source, independent of the Simplified Chinese translation

Requirements

Built on the Interplanetary Polyglot (xen.LocalizationUtility) framework. The dependency is installed automatically when using the Mod Manager.

Installation

Option 1 (recommended): Install via Outer Wilds Mod Manager.

Option 2 (manual):

  1. Install the prerequisite mod Interplanetary Polyglot
  2. Download the zip from Releases, extract it, and place the folder into %appdata%\OuterWildsModManager\OWML\Mods\

After installation, launch the game and select 「正體中文」 under Audio & Language settings.

Custom Translation

Translation.xml in the mod folder is the translation itself — edit it directly and restart the game to apply. No rebuild needed.

Note: This mod uses a statically pre-baked font covering a fixed set of 2,022 characters. If you introduce characters outside that set while editing the translation, they will not render. Sticking to characters already present in the existing translation is recommended.

Terminology Notes

The official Simplified Chinese translation has several systemic issues that this mod addresses: multiple distinct vehicles and celestial bodies collapsed into the same word; the twin/twins distinction erased; and Northern Mandarin colloquialisms — including erhua (retroflexed suffix) and regional dialect — scattered throughout the text. Below are some representative examples.

TermOfficial Simplified CNThis modRationale
The Vessel飞船方舟Simplified CN uses 飞船 for the Vessel, spacecraft, spaceship, and shuttle alike — every vehicle collapses to one word. This mod gives each a distinct one-to-one translation; 方舟 (ark) is reserved for the Nomai Vessel, carrying the sense of a people borne through catastrophe
Ash Twin灰烬双星灰子星Simplified CN uses 双星 for both the individual planets (Ash Twin, Ember Twin) and the pair (Hourglass Twins), losing the distinction. This mod uses 子星 for individual planets and reserves 双星 for the collective, restoring the original nuance
Ember Twin余烬双星燼子星Same logic as above. The names also encode a structural pairing: 灰 (ash) and 燼 (ember) are split from the compound 灰燼 (ashes) — each twin carries one character, and together they form the word, quietly reflecting their bond
Erhua (兒化音)这儿、那儿、一点儿……這裡、那裡、一點……Erhua is a Northern Mandarin phonological feature pervasive in the official text; replaced throughout with Taiwan-standard phrasing
Regional dialect脑壳儿疼腦袋會痛"Skull-ache" — Southwest dialect + erhua — for "brain hurting"; replaced with everyday phrasing natural to Taiwanese readers

Translation Notes

  • Taiwan-standard wording throughout
  • Standard Taiwan glyphs for regional character variants (, , , , , etc.)
  • Character names re-transliterated from English originals (e.g. Solanum → 索拉農, Feliks → 菲利斯, Spire → 史派爾)
